“We are disturbed not by things, but by
the view which we take of them” {Epictetus}
North Down Counselling is a private counselling practice managed
by Julie Dodds who, as well as counselling adults in all areas, has specialist training
in counselling children and adolescents.
People come
into counselling with a wide range of personal, emotional and relationship difficulties. As an experienced, qualified counsellor
I will work with you to help you create a better understanding to the problems you face in your life.
Issues
include: Anxiety, Anger, Self-Esteem, Depression, Bullying, Family and Stepfamily Relationships, Work related issues,
Self Harm, Disruptive Behaviour including ADHD, Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders,
Phobias & Bereavement etc.
I have particular experience working with issues related to anxiety,
depression, low self esteem, anger and stress, and in working successfully with clients to resolve difficulties relating to
any type of relationship or work-related issues.
Counselling children or teenagers require different
skills because the
developmental stages and cognitive ability in children and adolescents must be taken into consideration. Therefore it
is essential to tailor the counselling approach, using strategies and creative
interventions which will specifically address their needs in ways which are acceptable to them.
You may contact me
initially by telephone or email to discuss and ask any questions you might have regarding the type of therapy, what the process involves or any other concern.

My work is conducted according to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice within the British Association of Counselling and
Psychotherapy (BACP) with whom I am a registered counsellor. I am also a member of their division for Counselling Children
& Young People (CCYP). The BACP is the umbrella organisation for counselling in the UK.
